Ferdinand Ries (1784-1838) String Quintet in E flat major op. 183 'Souvenir d'Italie' The 'Souvenir d'Italie' was composed in 1833 during a trip through Italy lasting several months, which took the Ries couple to Venice, Milan, Rome and Naples.  

Antonin Dvorak (1841-1904) Quintet in G major op. 77 The Quintet in G major is the first work for which the composer was awarded a composition prize.  For the work, he chose the distinctive instrumentation of string quartet and double bass, which had been a common variant of the string quintet since the late 18th century.
